Torres Signs Permanent Deal With AC Milan
Fernando Torres was bought for a then British record fee of £50m by Chelsea in 2010 after he dazed premier league and La Liga defenders with sublime runs and finishing with his time at Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. But he failed to excel in the colours of the Blues as he could only muster 45goals in 172 appearances – that led to his loan to AC Milan but after 10 games and registering just a goal the Rossoneri’s are keen to offload him.
However, AC Milan must first buy him on a permanent basis off his initial 18months loan from Chelsea before using him in the swap deal for Atletico Madrid’s Alessio Cerci who is reportedly unhappy with lack of playing time with the Spanish side.
Chelsea’s official website released a statement that reads: ‘Fernando Torres is to join AC Milan on a permanent basis. ‘The striker moves to the San Siro on a two-year loan deal in August and on January 5 he will complete a permanent transfer to the Serie A side.
‘Chelsea Football Club thanks Fernando for his service during the past four seasons and wishes him the very best for the future.’ Torres is expected to have his medical for his boyhood club, Atletico Madrid next week Monday while Cerci is expected to have his medical at AC Milan on New Year’s eve.
